The Lesson of the Cherry Blossom

Throughout all the time I’ve been designing websites, and especially here at Dei-Gratia, I’ve tended to favor simplistic, elegant layouts. This layout the first one that has actual meaning. My immediate family has experienced several deaths this year. My cousin passed away in February following a four year long battle with breast cancer. My uncle died in September after battling acute heart and renal failure. Both survived longer than was expected and both lived their last few months with courage, strength, and compassion.

It may be my romantic nature or my desire to find some sort of meaning that brought cherry blossoms to my mind. Perhaps, it’s my love of symbolism in all it’s forms. I couldn’t help but to be reminded of the lesson of the cherry blossom.

The lesson of the cherry blossom is that life is short, life is tragic, but ultimately, life is beautiful. The cherry blossom should serve to remind us to bring comfort and peace to those we are blessed to have in our lives. To slow down and do not take things for granted, for they are so quickly gone. Live life in each precious moment and blossom to the fullest.
